Phillips Lighting Illuminates Storage Management
Philips Lighting Electronics North America had been in the process of evaluating, justifying and purchasing a tiered storage architecture solution. Having used monolithic SANs for the past seven years, IT saw the need for tiered storage as a result of a more complex environment.
However, the cost of putting all the data on one tier-1 frame had been deemed too high, so as the lease on their high end storage came to a close, Philips began to evaluate a tiered solution.
In this session from Storage Decisions, Las Vegas 2006 learn how Phillips Lighting North America's environment of multiple operating systems, mixed demand on level of service, mixed data retention needs and consolidation all pointed to the need for a tiered storage environment.
