The Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) provides considerable amounts of online and other computer-based services to its members and prospective and current medical students. Plagued by many small applications and requirements for multiple servers, AAMC was faced with managing 100+ servers, many of which were severely under utilized.

AAMC decided to explore virtualization technologies as a way to consolidate servers. After testing and evaluating all virtualization options, AAMC began consolidating its server infrastructure with Virtuozzo.

The IT department found that because Virtuozzo virtualizes the OS kernel, in addition to saving money in licensing, the systems now run with little worry about the underlying hardware and the management tools further simplify administration by providing ease in maintenance and upgrades.
