ABSTRACT:
Constant restructuring to keep pace with the dynamics of the ever-changing IT environment is neither feasible nor advisable. Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) is the IT strategy to transform an enterprise into a flexible and scalable enterprise that can quickly adapt to ever-shrinking business cycles. SOA enables enterprises to make their technology, people and processes plug-and-play ready. This paper discusses how all this is can be achieved. The business-level benefits from SOA implementation, the SOA evolution model and the SOA Governance mechanism are also discussed, to provide a complete picture of this IT strategy that has openness and agility as its intrinsic properties.
