ABSTRACT:

If you provide users with a customised environment, you'll be familiar with logon scripts and the problems of using them. You might well start off with good intentions - a single logon script for all users - but soon special requirements force you to introduce minor modifications and soon it becomes an unmanageable mess.Logon scripts are very primitive, so why aren't we using a better method?

The basic idea of Desktop Authority is to do away with customised scripts. Instead every user who needs to be given a customised environment is assigned the same script - slogic.bat. This is a very simple batch file that starts the Desktop Authority running on the client machine. It performs a range of checks and configures the machine using information stored on the server as a 'profile'.
