ABSTRACT:

Digi International® Inc., the leader in Connectware, today announced that it is shipping its newly released Digi TS W family of one-, two-, and four-port serial to wireless Ethernet device servers. These are the first in a series of products to ship with 802.11b wireless connectivity.

The Digi TS™ W family includes Digi's patented RealPort® technology. This powerful combination means a serial device can now be located anywhere within reach of an 802.11b wireless network, yet appear locally attached. Software applications designed for locally attached serial devices need no modification to work with Digi TS W attached serial devices. RealPort works by creating a local COM or TTY port on the host computer allowing software applications to work with wired or wireless networked device servers replacing the requirement for integrated serial host adapter cards.
