ABSTRACT:

Among the most critical decisions at the beginning of an Intranet project is whether to buy a commercially available system or build a new system or lease a system with a hosted environment. Each option has some positive and negative consequences that must be fully examined if the decision is to bring optimum results to the organization. These relate to cost, time to implement, and resources to create and support the system, priorities for the organization's technical staff, system functionality, documentation, and a variety of other issues. Statistics show that the risk of failure in large-scale development projects is high, as is the likelihood of cost overruns and time delays. There are many factors that can contribute to such failures and only careful planning and excellent management can minimize the risk. IntraSmart is available as either an installed or hosted solution and our staff is ready to help you evaluate which would be best for your organization.
