ABSTRACT:
Stratos International, Inc. is announcing a new series of coax-to-optical fiber and optical fiber-to-coax media converters for a wide range of digital video applications. The VMC-T-H-2 Simplex Transmitter and the VCM-R-H-2 Simplex Receiver provide high-performance media conversion between BNC-equipped 75-ohm coax and ST-connector equipped 9µm single mode fiber optic cable. These devices effectively eliminate the distance limitations and signal degradation of coax. They are ideal for television studios, video production houses, video switchers, stadiums, amphitheaters, on-location shoots, or anywhere digital video signals must be sent over considerable distances at a size and price advantage to typical card based solutions. Both receivers and transmitters support the SMPTE 292M/297M/259M/305M protocols including pathological pattern compliance.
