ABSTRACT:
The XL-Crypt Encryption Accelerator is a PCI card designed to provide a dedicated, high-speed hardware resource for enhancing network security functions. Aimed at manufacturers, integrators, and end users with the need for high-speed network security, the XL-Crypt provides a cost effective IPSec compliant solution.

With XL-Crypt, servers, network appliances, and end-user machines can better accommodate high bandwidth requirements by off-loading encrypted IP packets to the XL-Crypt for decryption. Using this method, the server, network appliance, or end-user machine does not consume unnecessary CPU time decrypting data.

Incorporating the Hifn 7811 encryption engine, XL-Crypt is designed to reduce the amount of CPU traffic on the host system by using its own dedicated encryption processor hardware and scatter-gather DMA (direct memory access). These features free the system’s CPU from performing the complex mathematical functions involved, improving ciphering speed and overall system performance.
