Connect Tech Inc., designer and manufacturer of multi-port serial adapters, is adding a Low Profile, PCI 2.2-compliant family to its line up to facilitate the trend towards higher density systems while maintaining current PCI mechanical standards.

The first member of the new BlueStorm/LP family is a robust four-port, RS-232 adapter. Its space-saving, MD1 low profile belies its speed and functionality. A Quad UART controls each port, providing 64 bytes of TX and RX FIFO per channel. The UART includes a fifth generation 16C550 compatible register set, a global interrupt source register and automatic hardware and software flow control.
