Enterprise Data Protection Bill of Rights
sponsored by Quantum Corporation

This paper is designed to assist enterprise IT managers in the selection of an enterprise data protection solution for the next wave of storage consolidation. Every three years, technology and equipment depreciation cycles drive a new wave of consolidation in every aspect of the enterprise including: servers, network infrastructure, management frameworks, enterprise applications and storage resources. Included in this paper are a set of tools that simplify the process of assessing needs, determining requirements and establishing your rights as an enterprise customer in the next wave of storage consolidation. The Enterprise Data Protection Bill of Rights is based on two fundamental principles. The first is Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) that governs the selection, installation, configuration and maintenance of the physical platform. The second is Information Lifecycle Management (ILM), which governs the logical management of data, backup and restore windows, access requirements, systems management and policy characteristics of the data protection platform. Each of these principles is required to have a complete solution.
