IP PBX security is gaining importance as many enterprises, for security reasons, deploy their VoIP network as a separate VLAN within their enterprise network. While this does solve some of the security issues, it does not protect against the many potential IP PBX vulnerabilities introduced by the deployment of soft phones, which reside on the data VLAN. Other potential DoS attacks like floods, related to the misconfiguration of hard phones or malicious attacks from inside the network, are also not protected in this system.
