To complement a wide range of Windows-powered mobile devices including the Pocket PC, Handheld PCs are available in four different shape, size, and types of mobile devices to meet the needs of different mobile professionals – half VGA screen with an integrated keyboard (clamshell devices), full screen with an integrated keyboard, tablets, and ruggedized devices. All Handheld PCs are wireless-ready and available from a number of Handheld PC manufacturers. The latest version of this software is called Handheld PC 2000.

A Handheld PC is typically used as a mobile device running forms-based applications for data collection, running full desktop applications via a thin client connection, or operating as a mobile web appliance.
