About Simtek Corp. SIMTEK Corporation is a fabless semiconductor company, supplying innovative products to a worldwide marketplace. We have design and manufacturing expertise in a variety of technologies, including high performance nonvolatile memory, application specific integrated circuits and data communications. Simtek has taken the most desired features of volatile and nonvolatile memory, and combined them into a single chip: the nvSRAM. This chip combines static random access memory (SRAM) and electrically erasable programmable read-only memory (EEPROM) in a shadow memory configuration. Within each SRAM cell is an additional EEPROM cell, which can be read directly to (or written from) the external data pins, in a manner identical to conventional SRAM operation. As for logic, Simtek can use the designer's files to quickly replace the programmable logic devices with low cost replacements, requiring very little engineering support. This fast, seamless solution provides a significant cost savings and performance advantage to the system manufacturer. Finally, in the area of data communications, through its acquisition of Q-DOT, Inc. Simtek has years of experience in high performance digital and mixed signal ICs based on the most advanced Silicon Germanium process technologies. Products using this expertise are in development to address the needs of fiber optic and wireless data communications systems.
