This paper details Boise Cascade’s conversion to Windows® 2000 and its implementation of Active Directory™ as part of its broader enterprise technical architecture.
As an early champion of Windows® 2000, Boise Cascade reconfigured its enterprise architecture around a centralized, directory-services model. This was done years before Active Directory™ shipped or was even announced. By the time the conversion project formally commenced, Boise Cascade had already designed many elements of its new infrastructure and agreed on many of the methods that it would use to roll out the new platform.
However, the company’s early commitment to a directory services architecture led it to adopt an independent, third-party, IP services product. One mandate faced by administrators was how to configure Active Directory™ into their existing architecture in the simplest and most cost-efficient manner possible.
